Solar Rollers Race
Presented by Solar Rollers
See student-built solar-powered racecars compete at speed on the Solar Rollers circuit track. These complete standalone energy systems harvest sunlight and turn it into raw speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour as student drivers wrangle for position. Some competitions use a battery in the system and some use photovoltaic power alone.
The Solar Rollers program has worked with student teams in Colorado, Nevada, California, Dubai and Kuwait to build over 700 of these educational and entertaining 1/10 scale solar cars. The program is testing a new patent pending kit design here at Reno and in Las Vegas next week as part of the Nevada Science and Technology Festivals.
The main event Rally Around the Sun race is one hour long and kicks off at 1:26pm.
Parking: Free and metered street parking is available in downtown Reno.
