River School Farm Tour

Presented by Great Basin Outdoor School and River School Farm

The River School Farm and Great Basin Outdoor School will collaborate to offer a tour of the River School Farm in Reno. Tom Stille will lead a tour of his organic farm and will talk about year-round farming and a holistic approach to sustainable living and bioregional design. Great Basin Outdoor School provides school break day camps at the farm and will lead a mini-workshop on Nature Journaling

This hands-on Nature Journaling workshop will help students build essential nature journaling skills, helping people to become better observers, journal keepers, and scientists. Creative expression, innovation, and critical thinking are core to fostering the next generation. This hands-on activity allows students to connect with nature and gives them opportunities to be creative while practicing real-life and academic skills through drawing, writing, counting, measuring, observing, and finding out answers to their questions about a local farm and its animals, plants, water, soil, weather and climate, geology, and ecology. Nature Journaling helps students appreciate their environment and their place in it.

Parking: Park on White Fir St. and walk into the River School Farm near the big red circle.
